Vehicle: 2016 Chrysler 200, FWD, L4-2.4L, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle
Mileage: 25,320
Problem: This vehicle was brought to the shop because the malfunction indicator light (MIL) would come on under hard acceleration. An example would be merging onto the highway.
Case Details: The technician connected a scanner and found diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem. He checked connections at the mass airflow sensor (MAF). The connector looked fine and the MAF was clean. He swapped out the MAF with a “known good” one, but the problem persisted.
A quick call to ALLDATA Tech-Assist resulted in a review of the wiring diagram which revealed a splice point that could be causing a problem. It was splice SK900A, which was located on top of the motor.
Confirmed Repair: The technician checked the splice and found a loose connection. He repaired the splice, cleared the DTC and went for a test drive. The MIL did not light up and the vehicle ran perfectly. Easy fix!
