Frontier Brake Switch Causes No Crank Condition
Jul. 02 2024
Jul. 02 2024

Vehicle: 2022 Nissan Frontier, 2WD, V6-3.8L (VQ38DD), Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 23,635 miles

Problem: The vehicle owner had the truck towed to the shop because the engine would not crank over.

The technician noticed that he could get the vehicle into ACCY mode with the push-to-start button, but a dash message appeared saying, "Press the Brake Pedal". He also noticed that the brake lights were not working, and all the fuses were good. It was time to call ALLDATA Tech-Assist for a little diagnostic advice.

The Tech-Assist consultant suggested checking for power in on the RED and GRN wires at the brake switch, and then for power out on the YEL and BLU when depressing the brake pedal. If there was no power out, he advised replacing the brake switch, and then rechecking the power distribution.

The technician tested the brake switch as advised and found good power to the brake switch, but not out of the switch when the pedal was depressed.

Confirmed Repair: The technician installed a new brake switch, and the engine started normally. Easy Fix!
