Jul. 02 2024

Vehicle: 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500, 4WD, V8-5.3L, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

Mileage: 69,755 miles

Problem: The Silverado was brought to the shop because the air bag light was on.

Case Details: After connecting a scan tool, the technician found the following diagnostic trouble code (DTC): B001A - Driver Seat Belt Anchor Pretensioner Deployment Loop. He inspected the wiring and connector on the driver’s side. They seemed to be fine, so he gave ALLDATA Tech-Assist a call.

The Tech-Assist consultant advised the technician to check the resistance of the driver seat belt anchor. It should be around 2.5 Ohms.
NOTE: Sometimes moisture can get into these connectors and cause issues like this.

The technician found that the seat belt anchor resistance was about 4 Ohms.

Confirmed Repair: He disconnected the connector, cleaned it out, then reconnected it. He cleared the code and double-checked the resistance. The resistance was in specifications. A quick test drive confirmed there were no further ABS issues. Fixed!
